Holly

Holly is a registered Dutch Belted Heifer, born May 23, 2014.  She was purchased in December 2015 from the Abbey of Regina Laudis in Bethlehem, CT, where the Sisters raise cows for their milk and cheese production.   She's making friends with the other animals, and has demonstrated her athletic ability in jumping  fences several times since arriving at Westmoor.

Olaf

Olaf

Olaf is an alpaca, he was born on January 13, 2015 and has lived at Westmoor Park since he was 4 days old. A baby alpaca or llama is called a cria. (CREEah). Olaf was bottle fed as a baby, and became imprinted on people as a result. This accounts for his unusual friendliness towards people, and for his occasional bad manners!

Alpacas are raised primarily for their very fine/soft fiber, but they are also becoming popular as pets.

Maya - Llama at Westmoor Park

Maya & Inca

Maya is our brown llama born in June of 2019, and Inca is our black llama, born in September 2019.

They were purchased in 2023 from a farm in Pennsylvania after a successful fundraising campaign raised enough money through donations.

Llamas were first domesticated from wild stock native to South America in the Andes Mountains, where they are still used today to carry loads in the rugged mountain terrain, and for their meat and fiber. Today some farmers use llamas as guard animals for their flocks of sheep, helping to protect the sheep from attacks by coyotes.
