The Town of West Hartford’s Office of Equity Advancement is committed to leading and supporting initiatives that foster a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for all staff, residents, clients and patrons of the Town of West Hartford. As such, the Office of Equity Advancement is charged with ensuring compliance with the Town's policies and procedures.

Why Equity

Access: The Town of West Hartford strives to ensure our residents, employees and partners have the proper resources and tools to effectively participate and engage in the community. We are committed to continuously improving our services, such as our Language Access Plan and I Speak…Language Identification Guide. Additionally, we, also offer programs and services for our youth and seniors. Most importantly, we are committed to creating and offering more programs that recognize and represent our diverse community.

Representation/Inclusion: The Town of West Hartford is committed to creating, nurturing and supporting an open, welcoming and inclusive community. We are dedicated to offering educational and supportive resources and programs to our employees in order to better serve our residents. Additionally, we offer programs and other opportunities throughout the greater community that speak on the issues of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and how we as a Town can better understand and support our neighbors.

Respect: The Town of West Hartford prides itself on its rich and diverse history, we also recognize there are multiple opportunities we must take advantage of in order to continue to better our community. Through conversation, education, and partnership we can create a community whose foundation is based on respect. By creating and supporting spaces and opportunities for people to navigate spaces that have historically been inaccessible we are creating a more promising future for all of us.
