Disability Rights Connecticut
Disability Rights Connecticut (DRCT) is a statewide non-profit organization with a mission to advocate for the human, civil, and legal rights of people with disabilities in Connecticut. The organization replaced the Office of Protection & Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities.
Disability Rights provides legal advocacy and rights protection to a wide range of people with disabilities. This includes assisting individuals with problems such as abuse, neglect, discrimination, access to assistive technology, community integration, voting, and rights protection issues. DRCT also addresses issues through policy advocacy, education, monitoring, and investigation.
ADA Advocacy
The Town's Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) coordinator is committed to ensuring that the needs and interests of persons with disabilities are channeled to appropriate Town departments. A department representative serves as a liaison to the Advisory Commission on Persons with Disabilities which works with Town departments to assure access to services for people with disabilities.
