The Town of West Hartford's Elderly Assistance Program is funded by the
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
http://www.hud.gov
The purpose of the Elderly Assistance Program is to provide financial and technical assistance to eligible West Hartford homeowners (age 65 and over) to replace one (1) failed system or install a handicapped accommodation. (Exceptions may be made for persons under age 65 with mobility impairments.)
Financial assistance is available as a combined grant (50% of project cost) and a 0% interest Lifetime Mortgage
Deed (50% of project cost) to qualified owners. The Lifetime Mortgage must be
repaid in one lump sum upon sale or transfer of any
interest in the property. Partial payments are not allowed.
If you own and occupy residential property in West Hartford, are age 65 or
over, and fall within the income guidelines, the Town of West Hartford's Housing
Rehabilitation Division may be able to assist you in making necessary repairs to
your home. The gross household income must be at or below 80% of median income
for Hartford PMSA as prescribed by the United States Department of Housing and
Urban Development (HUD).
Effective February 1, 2019, applications for Housing Rehabilitation will not be accepted. This change will be in effect until further notice.
