Celebrate! West Hartford

Fundraising Event Replaces Festival & Road Races for Annual Celebrate! West Hartford Weekend

The 34th annual Celebrate! West Hartford festival should be taking place in early June 2020 featuring the award-winning arts & crafts fair, carnival rides & games, live music, a food court and business & non-profit exhibitors. A 5K foot race was added to the event 33 years ago with a dual-fold mission: raise money for families in need to access swim lessons & vacation-time camps and provide a competition for runners of all ages. Each year, the signature community event donates $8-13,000 to The Town That Cares & the Leisure Services Scholarship Funds which help our neighbors in need.

Unfortunately, in accordance with social distancing recommendations amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 festival has been canceled. However, because of financial hardships endured by many of our neighbors due to coronavirus, the need for funds is greater than ever.

Celebrate! West Hartford believes we have an opportunity to still help our neighbors while practicing social distancing. In lieu of the traditional festival and competitive race, we are holding a FUNd RUN: RUN Apart * GIVE Together. For a $20 entry fee, registrants will receive a special commemorative T-shirt, and if they choose to run or walk any distance, we’ll post their stats with other participants’ online.

Our hope is to have 2,020 participants out running or walking the streets of West Hartford (appropriately distanced, of course!) wearing their shirts and showing their town spirit on June 5 & 8, 2020 during what would have been the Celebrate! West Hartford festival weekend.

The Town of West Hartford and the Celebrate! West Hartford Committee: Fesitval Canceled

March 26, 2020: At a time when we are all working to minimize the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, we believe this is the responsible course of action. Celebrate! West Hartford requires time and attention from many town departments, employees and volunteers in the months and weeks leading up to it. During this unprecedented time responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, our first priority must be the health and well-being of our community. We urge the entire community to heed the warnings and abide by the requests of our government leaders during this time. We look forward to when it will be more appropriate to safely "celebrate" in our community.
