West Hartford has five neighborhood parks conveniently located throughout town. Designed for the recreational enjoyment of people of all ages, the parks have playground apparatus, picnic tables, pools, tennis courts, basketball courts, athletic fields and restrooms. There are no grills available. You may bring your own charcoal grill - but please, clean up carefully afterwards. (Gas grills are not allowed.)
Four out of the five parks have outdoor pools. Summer pool programs include recreational and adult lap swims, and lessons for swimmers of all skill levels. The pools operate on a fee basis, and are open to the public from the end of June through mid August. The outdoor pools have closed for 2017 season.
Splash Pads located at Beachland, Fernridge, Kennedy and Wolcott Park are open until Labor Day weekend from 10 am to 7 pm for children ages 2 through 8 years. Adult Supervision is required.
The parks are available for rental during the months before and after the pools are open, making them popular places for individuals to hold meetings, parties, sports events and other functions. For information on permits, please click here.
The town offers short termand long termfield permits for organizations to use town fields and parks. A completed permit must be sent to the Leisure Services Manager for approval.
