Citizen's Academy

West Hartford Police Department Citizen's Academy 2016

The West Hartford Police Dept. will be holding the 4th annual Behind the Badge: Citizen’s Police Academy, to be held at West Hartford Police Department, Training Room, 103 Raymond Rd. on Wednesday nights beginning September 21st, 2016 and ending November 9th, 2016 from 6:00-9:00pm for a total of eight classes. This initiative will foster the relationship between the citizens of West Hartford and their police department by an abbreviated semester of law enforcement awareness education.

Adult members of the community will be invited to apply for acceptance in the program. Those 21 years of age and older with clean criminal backgrounds shall be permitted to experience the best instruction. Class size will be held to approximately 25 participants.

The eight week semester will offer a myriad of educational classes presented by the sworn and civilian members of our Department. Topics will be presented in one to three hour segments.  Each instructor shall design a presentation to be offered during the semester. The purpose of each class topic is to make our residents more familiar with the procedures, practices, problems, concerns, and challenges that face law enforcement officers in the performance of their duties. Our goal is to allow our citizens, through education, to become more informed of what our Department has to offer.
