Starting July 1, 2019, the Town of West Hartford will offer residents a biweekly way to get rid of yard waste. The new service begins July 1 and will continue through October 31. In future years, the program will run April 1 through October 31. Yard waste collection will be on the same day as recycling collection on the A-B schedule every other week. Yard waste should be placed in 30-gallon biodegradable leaf bags and placed at the curb on the same day as your recyclables. Brush must be cut to four-foot lengths, tied and bundled.
Residents also have the option to purchase a 96-gallon cart for yard waste. The cart is the equivalent of three, 30-gallon bags. The cost to purchase the cart is $73.12 and residents own and maintain their carts. Carts will be available for delivery in August.
All acceptable material must fit inside the cart. The cart lid must be closed for collection. The carts are for yard waste only. Lid must be closed.
