The Town That Cares

 

The Town That Cares is a special fund administered by the Town of West Hartford Social Services. The fund assists residents experiencing a crisis situation hindering their ability to pay for food, utility bills, shelter costs, medical expenses and other critical needs. It is funded 100% by contributions from generous individuals, businesses and community groups.

Over 1,000 households received assistance

from The Town That Cares in Fiscal Year 2018 (July 2017 - June 2018).

Below are a few examples of how residents were assisted by The Town That Cares.

  • Over 800 households received bags of food through The Town That Cares Food Pantry
  • 740 students received a new backpack and a gift card for school supplies from our Back to School Program
  • 408 households benefited from our Thanksgiving Program
  • 216 children attended our Children's Holiday Party
  • 458 children received holiday gift cards through our Children's Holiday Party
  • 205 households received emergency financial assistance
  • 55 children received swim lessons
