Civilian Police Review Board
The Civilian Police Review Board (CPRB) reviews and evaluates investigation reports prepared by the West Hartford Police Department (WHPD) resulting from investigations referred to WHPD involving complaints against sworn personnel and WHPD’s civilian employees, in order to: promote public confidence in the professionalism and accountability of the West Hartford Police Department through the unbiased review of the investigation of complaints filed against any West Hartford police officer; to add a civilian perspective to the evaluation of complaints; to provide a timely, fair, and objective review of complaints and the way the complaints are investigated; and to promote positive interactions and maintain trust between the community and the police.
The West Hartford Civilian Police Review Board serves in an advisory role by reviewing civilian complaint investigations conducted by the Professional Standards Division of the West Hartford Police Department. The Civilian Police Review Board does not conduct any investigations. Civilian complaints should be reported to the Police Department by completing the Civilian Complaint form.
