    Tae Kwon Do literally means the "art of fist and foot fighting." This 8 week class will teach students simple and effective self-defense along with traditional poses, which are set to a pattern of movement. Along with a cardiovascular workout, using the kicks and punches learned, students will gain more focus, confidence, mind/body control and coordination. Class is taught by a certified 4th degree blackbelt with 10 years’ experience teaching in a family oriented Tae Kwon Do school. There is a $20 material fee payable to the instructor for a uniform.

    Class will include self-defense from Aikido. Aikido is a non-aggressive defensive art which teaches techniques founded in scientific principles of anatomy and biomechanics. Then the other half will focus on kick-boxing including conditioning drills to better improve one's fitness and striking. Paul Millholen holds a black belt under legendary Bill "Superfoot" Wallace and is a member of the Nihon Goshin Aikido Association. No uniform required.

    412325 - RUNNING CLUB WOLCOTT

    Our Running Club is about to enter its ninth season! We typically have over 100 participants each season and more than 50% participate in the 5K or 1 mile races at the end of the season. This program is for grades 1-5 and requires registration through the West Hartford Leisure Services Department. Runners have the option of participating one or two days a week on Tuesdays and or Thursdays. We meet right after school and finish at 4:15 p.m. No busing after this program. Parent/guardian are responsible for pick-up. Please make sure to provide a daytime email address to Leisure Services so the instructor can send you an email by noon if there is a cancellation. The goals of this program is to promote goal setting and achievement, foster high self-esteem, self-confidence and self-discipline and develop positive values and life skills that will enhance students' preparation for an active and healthy life. The culminating goal is the Blue Back Mitten Run on December 2. Race fees and registration are not included in the program.
