    353535 - Tae Kwon Do

    Tae Kwon Do literally means the "art of fist and foot fighting." This 8 week class will teach students simple and effective self-defense along with traditional poses, which are set to a pattern of movement. Along with a cardiovascular workout, using the kicks and punches learned, students will gain more focus, confidence, mind/body control and coordination. Class is taught by a certified 4th degree blackbelt with 10 years’ experience teaching in a family oriented Tae Kwon Do school. There is a $20 material fee payable to the instructor for a uniform.

    413371 - BUGBEE FIT SQUAD

    Calling all Bugbee 3rd, 4th and 5th graders! We are excited to pilot a new before school fitness program called the "Bugbee Fit Squad". Participants will enjoy 6 sessions on Thursday mornings from 8:00 - 8:35 engaged in fun, fitness related activities run by our PE Teacher Mr. Lopez. Morning exercise is an awesome way to have fun, help regulate mood and attention, and prepare students for their school day by "waking-up" ones' brain for future learning. The research is undeniable, morning exercise rocks! The session will have a focus on fun games that increase cardiovascular fitness and team challenges that require cooperation. There is a maximum number of 40 students so please sign up early if you want to join.

    413775 - PICKLEBALL-ADULT

    Pickleball is the hottest new game sweeping the country! Pickleball is a combination of
    tennis, ping-pong, racquetball and badminton. The game is played on a badminton court
    with lightweight paddles and plastic perforated balls. The net is about the height of a tennis net.
    It is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a competitive game for experienced players.
    It includes fast volley exchanges, lobs and overhead slams. Advanced play can also focus on
    dink shots, 3rd shot strategies, partner play, etc. Participants should have good court/tennis shoes and equipment will be provided.
    (Class size limited to 25.)
    Instructor: Jason Hill

    Jason Hill is a member of USAPA (United States of America Pickleball Association),
    PPR (Professional Pickleball Registry), and has been teaching all levels of Pickleball for the
    last four years in Glen Head, NY in the North Shore Schools Community Education program.
    He has also been a music teacher in the North Shore School District for the past twenty years.

Many of the basic body positions of the yoga poses are similar, but without having to get down or back up from the floor. While seated on chairs, students can do versions of twists, hip stretches, forward bends and mild backbends. Additionally, some standing and balancing postures can be done using the chair for support. In addition to a good stretch, chair yoga participants can also enjoy other health benefits of yoga, including improved muscle tone, better breathing habits, stress reduction, better sleep and a sense of well-being. Virtually everyone can do and receive benefits from chair yoga!
