Clean Energy

West Hartford is a clean energy community. This portion of our website is designed to help you find everything related to energy and the West Hartford Clean Energy Commission (WH-CEC).

EnergizeCT is a "one-stop shop" for information on utility rebates and all the different programs available to you to save energy and costs. A list of all programs/rebates is here

For Residents
  • Solar for All Greater Hartford - The Solar for All program is a ground-breaking public-private partnership between the Connecticut Green Bank and PosiGen. The program offers a low-to-moderate income (LMI) targeted solar lease paired with energy efficiency  measures for homeowners, regardless of income or credit.
  • Join the West Hartford Clean Energy Commission - The WH-CEC meets once a month at Town hall. Check our schedule and join us at our next meeting.
  • Install solar panels on your home - The cost of solar has dropped dramatically, and most contractors will do a site assessment for free. Watch this 5-minute YouTube video for an overview of solar panels installation and check out EnergizeCT for more information on the Residential Solar Investment Program.
  • Choose to power your home with 100% renewable energy. Compare energy suppliers' costs and renewable energy production. Switching to renewable energy helps protect the environment and can save you money. Click here for more information from
  • Access energy efficiency rebates. See if you can take advantage of a rebate or financing option when purchasing energy efficient equipment and appliances for your home.
  • Schedule a home energy solutions assessment. Make sure you use a utility authorized contractor. Need help? Visit or call 877-947-3873.  You can also watch this short video on home energy assessment.
  • Purchase a hybrid or electric car.  EVs and hybrids produce less emissions and are less expensive to operate than gasoline-powered cars. Plus, with federal and state incentives, they are more affordable than ever. Visit for more information. Also Watch this short video to find out more!
  • Choose your electric supplier. In Connecticut, the electricity markets are "deregulated," meaning that other suppliers (not just Eversource) can sell electricity. IF YOU WISH, you can choose a different supplier for the generation portion of your bill. The EnergizeCT website allows you to compare different supplier options and rates, including Eversource's. Just be sure to read the Terms & Conditions of an offer and make sure you know when it expires.
For Businesses
  • Click here to schedule a Small Business Energy Advantage assessment. Schedule a no-cost, no-obligation energy assessment now by calling 1-877-947-3873.
  • Finance large energy efficiency upgrades with C-PACE. C-PACE allows building owners to finance qualifying energy efficiency and clean energy improvements through a voluntary assessment on their property tax bill.
