Building
A building permit is required for any new building construction, alteration or repair of an existing building, a building addition, temporary building, demolition, or pool installation. A permit is required if you plan to alter a building by cutting a portion of a wall, removing or cutting any structural beam or load bearing support, or change any required means of entering or exiting. In accordance with the State of Connecticut Basic Building Code and the West Hartford Zoning Ordinance, permits are also required for air conditioning, heating, sprinkler, electric wiring, and plumbing.

To schedule an inspection, please call 860-561-7530. Please call during our office hours: Monday-Thursday, 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, and Fridays, 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Be advised that you may need to leave a message; however, you will receive a return call within 24 business hours.

During business hours, staff is available to the public without an appointment. On Fridays from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, staff is available by appointment only.
