Contractor Licensing Information
Provide us with the Liability and Indemnification Agreement form, Uniform Bond form, your State of CT Home Improvement registration number, as well as your Federal ID number.
Driveways
Driveway Permits are required for new, replacement or alterations to existing driveways in order to ensure driveways appropriately connect to the Town’s Right of Way, do not encroach on neighboring properties and that the construction is performed by licensed contractors. Permits are valid for 30 days from the CBYD start date. Permits can be extended at no additional cost by providing an updated CBYD number and start date. License information must be current in order for a permit to be extended.
Licensed contractors may apply for driveway permits by coming to the Engineering Office in Room 204 of Town Hall, or may print out the entire application from the link below. Please complete the highlighted areas, and return it with the appropriate fee either by mail or in person. Also, if necessary, please print out and complete any missing requirements from the tabs below and return with the application and fee. All driveway permits must conform with current zoning standards.

Driveway Contractor Licensing

Liability and Indemnification Agreement
On West Hartford's form, this must be signed by owner of company or office, and notarized.
Uniform Bond
A $10,000 Town of West Hartford Bond Form completed on both sides.
Certificate of Insurance
Certificate of Insurance showing (on your insurance company's form):
- Commercial General Liability $1M per occurrence $2M per aggregate.
- Automobile Liability $1M per accident.
- Worker’s Compensation (if applicable).
- The Town of West Hartford, West Hartford Board of Education, and their respective boards, commissions, officers, officials, employees, agents, representatives, and volunteers as an Additional Insured.
- 30 days notice of cancellation.

Street Excavation
Street Excavation Permits are required for any excavation within the public street right-of-way for utility, storm water, or private purposes. Permits are issued by street address and are valid for 30 days from the CBYD start date. Permits can be extended at no additional cost by providing an updated CBYD number and start date. License information must be current in order for a permit to be extended.
Licensed contractors may apply for street excavation permits by coming to the Customer Service Desk in the Town Hall lobby or Room 204 in Town Hall, or may print out the entire application from the below link, complete the highlighted areas, and return it with the appropriate fee either by mail or in person.
