Kane & Kennedy Brook Flood Study
The proposed Kane and Kennedy Brook Flood Study will serve portions of both the Town of West Hartford and the City of Hartford in the Kane Brook and Kennedy Brook watersheds which are tributaries to the South Branch of the Park River. To view the watershed area, click on map below.
The Town, working with the City of Hartford, obtained a Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Climate Resilience Fund grant and has contracted with CDM Smith to assess a large portion of the Town of West Hartford’s and a small portion of the City of Hartford’s storm drainage systems. The two systems are connected with the Town’s system conveying storm drainage into the City’s system. The goal of the study is to evaluate both the Town’s and the City’s storm drainage system and determine areas of concern and provide conceptual alternatives to reduce or eliminate flood occurrences. The study is 100% funded through the $700,000 grant.
The study started in the Summer of 2025 and the anticipated completion is October of 2026.
