Our Mission

The mission at the West Hartford Fire Department is to provide superior customer service and integrated emergency response to any situation that threatens the life, safety and well-being of people and property.

The department consists of 100 staff and suppression personnel. There are five (5) fire stations that house three (3) engine companies and two (2) combination engine-ladder companies (quint). The department provides service in the areas of fire prevention and education, fire suppression, fire investigation, heavy rescue, handling hazardous materials incidents, fire inspections, code enforcement and emergency medical service. The department is also a vital link in the emergency management (civil preparedness) services provided in the community.

Our commitment and compassion extends to all our divisions; Operations, Fire Prevention, Training, Maintenance, and Administration.

The Town of West Hartford is a Class 2X Insurance Service Office (ISO) community. The latest evaluation was 2021.
