Parks
West Hartford has five major neighborhood parks conveniently located throughout town. Designed for the recreational enjoyment of people of all ages, the parks have playground apparatus, picnic tables, pools, tennis courts, basketball courts, athletic fields, and restrooms. There are no grills available. You may bring your charcoal grill, but please clean up carefully afterward. (Gas grills are not allowed.)
Our rental policy states that the parks are available for rental during the months before and after the pools are open, making them popular places for individuals to hold meetings, parties, sports events, and other functions.
The Town offers short—and long-term field permits for organizations to use town fields and parks. A completed permit must be sent to the Leisure Services Manager for approval. Permits are available to print below.
The Tree Action Group is comprised of members of the community and Town staff, who collaboratively serve as the Town of West Hartford’s Urban Forestry Advisory Group. For more information or to join the next meeting, please email Helen Rubino-Turco, Director of Leisure Services and Social Services.
Elizabeth Park is owned and operated by the City of Hartford, and the gardens are maintained by the Elizabeth Park Conservancy. The park is located at the corner of Prospect Avenue and Asylum Avenue. Please visit their website for more information on the gardens and free programs.

Town Ordinances - Parks and Dogs
This is a reminder that it is unlawful for any person to take any dog into any park or playground, except on a leash not longer than (6) fee or to permit any pet to go into any active play area, apparatus area, athletic field, or recreational enclosure or building unless said pet is participating in a program sponsored by the town (Town Ordinance, Section 128-3). Also, all dog owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs.
