West Hartford

Senior Housing Plan

Project Background

In order to further many of the housing-related goals in the Town’s 2020 Plan of Conservation and Development, West Hartford will be conducting a Senior Housing Study, which ultimately will lead to the preparation of a Senior Housing Plan. The Town recognizes that the needs of the senior population, identified as anyone age 55 and over by AARP, are unique and that existing zoning tools may not be particularly well suited to meeting those needs.  Through this study and the plan that will follow, the Town seeks to better understand the housing preferences and priorities of the senior community, which will ultimately inform actionable policy recommendations to ensure that West Hartford continues to serve the needs of the Senior population.
