On 01/06/2025 The WHPD Patrol Division and the WHPD Community Support Unit (CSU), conducted an enforcement operation targeting street level offenses and warrant services in the town of West Hartford.

On 11/17/2025 at approximately 5:23 PM, Officers attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop for motor
vehicle violations observed on Kane Street in West Hartford. The vehicle got on I-84 westbound where
officers attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop, just east of exit 43. The offending vehicle took off at a
high rate of speed, proceeding off exit 43.

On 9/22/25 The West Hartford Police Department Community Support Unit made an arrest after observing a group of ATV’s and dirt bikes recklessly and illegally operating on public roadways.  A stolen dirt bike was recovered and towed, as well as an ATV that was illegally operating on the roadway.  One adult arrest was made. The West Hartford Police Department responded to a car vs pedestrian motor vehicle accident at the intersection of New Britain Avenue at South Main Street. The pedestrian was found to be unresponsive.

On 11/08/24 WHPD and WHFD responded to the intersection of Oakwood Avenue and St. James Street for a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision. A north-bound vehicle struck an elderly pedestrian that was crossing Oakwood Avenue in the area of the uncontrolled crosswalk. After the impact with the first vehicle, the pedestrian was believed to have been struck by a second vehicle that was south-bound on Oakwood Avenue.

In the early months of 2025, members of the West Hartford Police Department Community Support Unit (CSU) and the FBI Northern Connecticut Gang Task Force (NCGTF) initiated an illicit drug investigation into a town resident.  During the course of the investigation, law enforcement personnel determined that this resident was distributing illegal narcotics (fentanyl and "crack" cocaine) from his residence.

Members of the West Hartford Police Department Detective Division investigated an allegation that a Paraprofessional at the STRIVE Program (Success Through Responsibility, Initiative, Vision and Education) inappropriately touched two juvenile students.  The investigation led to two signed arrest warrants, and the arrest of the suspect. West Hartford Emergency Services responded to an apartment building located at 98 Caya Avenue for a structure fire with smoke coming from an upper level window. This fire was later determined to be an arson.

Children and Families (DCF) that a teacher from the Solomon Schechter Day School, a private school in
West Hartford, was suspected of inappropriately touching a juvenile student.
