Police Records

The Records Division has a staff of seven individuals who are responsible for payroll for the department as well  as the maintenance of personnel files, case records, and assisting the public with requests. The Records Supervisor has the additional responsibility of managing the Evidence Room for the department. The division also serves an important public function, providing copies of accident/case reports, permits and record checks as requested.

Copies of Police Reports/Accidents

If you need to obtain a copy of a police/accident report, please contact the Records Division with your request by any of the following options;

The fee is .50 cents per page with an additional $1.00 fee if the report is mailed. We suggest you call the Records Division at 860-570-8800 or email us to obtain the cost of the report you need.

Another service provided for those looking to obtain accident reports only, is by going to www.buycrash.com. This is an online program that will allow you to access your accident report.

Fingerprinting

Fingerprinting (for employment, adoption, financial institutions, etc.) is available for a fee of $10.00 per card  and/or tracking number (West Hartford resident) $20.00 per card and/or tracking number (non-resident). Fingerprint cards can be supplied if needed. They can also be obtained from the requesting agency.  Fingerprinting is by appointment only, please call 860-570-8800, leave a message and we will return your call, Monday - Friday to arrange a mutually agreed appointment. We cannot provide fingerprints for citizenship or for naturalization purposes, these must be taken by INS.

Criminal Record Check

A criminal record check can be obtained at the Records Division. The background check is for the Town of West Hartford only. The fee for a record check is $5.00. For more information please email PDRecords@westhartfordct.gov or call 860-570-8800

Fee Summary (Cash or check only)

  • Copies - $.50 cents per page

  • Soliciting Permit - $5.00 per year for Organization, $5.00 per year for Individuals.
