McGovern Pond has reopened for fishing. The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection Bureau of Natural Resources Fisheries Division has restocked the pond with trout.

Municipal offices, libraries, schools, and recreation facilities are closed on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27. Trash will be delayed by one day in Thursday and Friday collection areas only.
Municipal facilities are open on Friday, November 28th.

The MDC contractor will be performing sanitary sewer repairs on Farmington Avenue during the weeks of November 3 and November 10. LaSalle Road will be repaved on November 5.

The Town of West Hartford offers a bagged leaf collection program for residential properties from Monday, November 3, through Friday, December 19, 2025. Each week on your regular refuse collection day, crews will collect leaves bagged in 30-gallon biodegradable paper bags or the brown yard waste cart.

West Hartford’s first roundabout, located at the intersection of King Philip Drive and Old Meadow Road, is now completed. Roundabouts are a Federal Highway Administration Proven Safety Countermeasure to decrease fatal and injury crashes by 82%.
