The Town of West Hartford is launching a comprehensive multi-year modernization project to upgrade elevators and escalators throughout our public parking facilities and pedestrian areas. This work will begin in December 2025 and continue in phases through 2027. These improvements will enhance safety, accessibility, reliability, and energy efficiency across the system.

Tree removal on Farmington Avenue is tentatively scheduled for the evening of Monday, February 16, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on February 17. Work will begin on the western block between Walden Street and LaSalle Road.

The Town of West Hartford’s Assessment Department finalized the 2025 Grand List of taxable and exempt property effective October 1, 2024, per Connecticut General Statutes on January 31, 2026. The 2025 Grand List reflects all changes in ownership and valuation for each property class.

The total net assessed value of all taxable property, before the Board of Assessment Appeal actions, is $7,370,255,222, representing an increase in the net taxable list of $81,598,135 or 1.1% over the prior year.

Eversource has provided the Town with this year's notice of planned and scheduled vegetation maintenance work on the electric transmission right-of-way (ROW) located in West Hartford.

The United States of America turns 250 in 2026! To celebrate, the West Hartford Mayor's Youth Council and the West Hartford Public Library are hosting an essay contest to highlight the stories of significant historical figures in West Hartford. 

West Hartford ranked as the most livable community in Connecticut. Vision Zero initiatives and improvements were among the reasons for the top ranking. 

The Department of Public Works reminds residents that the removal of snow and ice from premises with an established sidewalk is required by owners or occupants within 12 hours after a storm ends or within 12 hours after sunrise, whichever is later. 

Rockledge and Buena Vista golf courses open for recreational use during the winter months beginning December 5, 2025. The winter trails will be available for jogging, walking, hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.
