McGovern Pond is open for fishing

McGovern Pond has reopened for fishing. The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection Bureau of Natural Resources Fisheries Division has restocked the pond with trout. 

Veterans Day holiday closings

Municipal offices, libraries, the community center, and senior centers are closed on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in observance of Veterans Day. Public schools and education offices remain open.

There is no delay in the collection of trash and recyclables.  

Pumpkin Recycling, November 1-December 1, 2025

Reduce waste by recycling your pumpkin at Public Works or Westmoor Park, from November 1 through December 1. Place your pumpkin in the organics container, and we'll turn it into bio-fuel and compost!

Curbside Leaf Collection held Nov. 3 through Dec. 19, 2025

The Town of West Hartford offers a bagged leaf collection program for residential properties from Monday, November 3, through Friday, December 19, 2025. Each week on your regular refuse collection day, crews will collect leaves bagged in 30-gallon biodegradable paper bags or the brown yard waste cart.
