Town That Cares
The Town That Cares is a special fund administered by the Town of West Hartford Social Services Department. The fund assists residents experiencing a crisis situation, hindering their ability to pay for food, utility bills, shelter costs, medical expenses, and other critical needs. It is supported by contributions from individuals, businesses, and community groups.

Town that Cares Facts
Over 1,000 households received assistance from The Town That Cares in Fiscal Year 2025 (July 2024- June 2025). Below are a few examples of how residents were assisted by The Town That Cares Fund;

8,712 bags of food were distributed from food pantry programs, assisting 605 households.

781 back-to-school gift cards distributed in partnership with West Hartford Public Schools.

666 holiday gift cards distributed in partnership with West Hartford Public Schools and West Hartford Police Department.

102 households received emergency financial assistance to meet their basic needs.
